Incidents
Canadian song submission
During the contest, Canada's entry "Kill Yourself (Part III)" by $UICIDEBOY$, received high disapproval across the board for the song's poor messaging and crassness, with one country,
Iceland, who was also the host country, calling the song's message "unpolite". It has even baffled some why the entry was even approved to begin with. Canada's manager, Legrume, initially doubled down on choosing the song, but ultimately came to regretting submitting the entry. As a result from the public outcry, Canada got last place in the contest, only receiving 2 points.
In September 10th, 2021, Polandball Wiki Song Contest owner ChocoMingo addressed this incident in retrospect saying that the contest "overlooked this song's meaning during the approval process back in August 2017". He continued by saying the contest "deeply regrets approving the song due to its awful message and off-putting title belittling mental health". ChocoMingo emphasized that "if someone tried to submit the song today, it would not have been allowed, but ultimately, the song was overlooked by the staff when it shouldn't have been approved. For that, we are truly sorry".
1st PWSC Discord Server Raid
On August 22, 2017, shortly after the contest results were released, the first rendition of the Polandball Wiki Song Contest Discord server got vandalized. Procimus, the manager for
Germany and then-owner of the contest, pinned the blame on SsastalPoi, the manager for
Greece, and disqualified him from the next contest. Ssastal disputed the accusation by saying that his Discord account got hacked and the hacker vandalized the server, with
SirBenelux, the manager for
Luxembourg coming to his defense. Due to this incident, this led Procimus to create a new PWSC Discord server shortly after before the next contest in September 2017.
As of 2021, the server's whereabouts is unknown so it is unclear who actually vandalized the first PWSC Discord server.
